  • Raw Cuts vol.1 : French Garage - LP - Criminal Damage (UK) CRI MLP 129 - October 1985
  • Night Dance / You Say Why? Taken from the Frenetic Dancing sessions at Juvisy sur Orge in November 1984 The name of the band was written as The Thugs. Introduction of the bands by Benoît Binet (From Nineteen zine). Bio (Criminal Damage) : A fairly new arrival on the French scene, The Thugs have already produced one blistering slab of vinyl entitled "Frenetic Dancing" on the Gougnaf Mouvement label. It's only widely available in France but bright sparks that we are we've nicked one side for your eternal pleasure. "Night Dance" is a red hot bone shaker which has barely been off the beaten up damaged dansette. A true fuzzed out r'n'r classic. Their other contribution "You say why ?" a more straightforward piece of madness. Screaming guitars and crazed whines. One of our French allies recently described this lot as a cross between the Nomads and the Pistols. What more could you possibly want ?

  • Signature-tune of the radio program Black&Noir (introducing the compilation) Eric, Stéphane, Doudou, Casbah made the radio program in 85-86 Sampled by Kid Pharaon at the "Chalet", Bordeaux Eric (Violence #3) : The MC4 have a song called "On another planet", and I find it really representative of today's music and people listening to HC. We're on another planet. We would like to have completely different relationships with people, a completely different society, and that's one thing important for us.

  • Cette machine sert à tuer tous les fascistes - LP/CD/K7 - On A Faim Label KL01 - 1991
  • Dirty White Race / You Say Why? Recorded live in Angers 30 September 1989 - Anti-fascist compilation made by the French Anarchist label OAF. The title (this machine is used to kill all the fascists) is Woodie Guthrie's words when speaking from his guitar. Eric (LDJ HS) : The problem is that what we would like to tell about the daily life can't be summed up by slogans. Obviously, Béruriers Noir (French punk band) as an example will be considered as a very engaged band, compared to Les Thugs who are simply a R'n'R band. But they use slogans "Down with fascism", and we would like to nuance this a bit more. It's sure that fascism, especially with Le Pen (leader of the extreme right wing in France) it's a big problem, but there are many other things that upset you : work, the daily life not always glad, politics for politics, all the wars, South Africa and appartheid, all a context which makes of the society a shitty one, that we're in, and most of the time we live this badly, but we try to express this in another way, because we don't really like slogans, it's too simplistic, it's a too easy summary which will gather many people, but among those who shout "Down with fascism", there are also bosses ! It doesn't interest us ! Eric (SMA #3) : (We have to be watchful) towards the extreme right movement, but I think it's more a daily life struggle, i.e. don't let say things when you meet people who have this kind of speech. Don't stop shouting, in the fanzines, a band, wherever, it has always to be said, it hasn't to be forgotten, here is the problem
